Application Field: Primarily used for heat transfer tube materials in the steam generators of pressurized water nuclear power plants. The materials used for the heat transfer tubes in the steam generators of pressurized water nuclear power plants have undergone a development process, including 304 austenitic stainless steel, 600 alloy, 800 alloy, and Inconel 690 alloy. Studies on corrosion failure during service of 600 alloy indicate that intergranular corrosion and intergranular stress corrosion cracking are the main issues. Since its introduction to use in the 1990s, no reports of damage have been found with Inconel 690 alloy as a material for the heat transfer tubes in the steam generators of pressurized water nuclear power plants.
