As a professional nickel alloy source manufacturer, Jiangsu Zhongxing Nickel Alloy supplies UHP grade seamless nickel alloy capillary tubes for semiconductor fabs. Many design engineers rely on 316L EP stainless for general purpose gas loops, yet aggressive halogen containing process gases will corrode standard stainless steel. Selecting proper nickel alloy capillary directly reduces particle generation, metallic contamination and unexpected tool downtime in semiconductor manufacturing.
Material grade selection starts with the chemical property of process gas. For highly corrosive halogen based gases such as BCl , HCl and wet chlorine, Hastelloy C276 (UNS N10276) capillary is our primary recommendation. Its high molybdenum tungsten content delivers outstanding resistance against pitting and mixed media corrosion, preventing metal ion leaching that would contaminate silicon wafers. For high temperature precursor delivery lines that require both corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) performs well under thermal cycling. Pure Nickel 201 fits alkaline rich specialty gas circuits, while Monel 400 is rarely adopted for semiconductor UHP gas systems due to limited halogen gas tolerance.
Surface finish and internal cleanliness are equally critical for semiconductor gas transmission. Even premium alloy cannot meet UHP requirements with rough inner walls. Our semiconductor grade nickel alloy capillary adopts multi pass cold drawing plus intermediate solution annealing. Electropolished (EP) surface is strongly preferred; low inner Ra value minimizes particle trapping, gas adsorption desorption effect and residual contaminants inside tubing. Every piece goes through strict ultrasonic cleaning, 100 % eddy current inspection and dimensional validation. We provide complete EN 10204 3.1 mill test reports with full heat lot traceability, and implement dust free packaging suitable for clean room installation.
Users should also take practical production constraints into account. Nickel alloy capillary for semiconductor service needs precise dimensional consistency for orbital welding; uneven wall thickness will create defective weld joints and become hidden leakage points. We support custom outer diameter, wall thickness, coil length and pre cut deburred segments according to customers’ gas cabinet and tool manifold drawings.
Q&A
Q1: Can Hastelloy C276 capillary fully replace 316L EP stainless steel for all semiconductor gas lines
A1: No. 316L EP stainless steel remains cost effective for inert and mild process gases. Switch to Hastelloy C276 only when handling corrosive halogen containing gases where stainless steel suffers corrosion risk.
Q2: What surface finish is mandatory for semiconductor high purity nickel alloy capillary
A2: Electropolished EP finish is strongly recommended for UHP gas circuits. Mechanical polished MP or bright annealed BA surfaces are not qualified for aggressive specialty gas delivery due to higher inner surface roughness.
Q3: What documents should I request when ordering semiconductor grade nickel alloy capillary
A3: Please ask for mill test reports covering chemical composition, mechanical test results, NDT records and surface roughness inspection data. Third party verification can also be arranged upon special clean room project requirements.
